Our Heartfelt Thanks

The Idabel Industrial Development Authority would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to our community partners, the Choctaw Nation, and Public Service of Oklahoma, Mayor Craig Young and the City of Idabel. As well as to our community members and business owners, for their invaluable contributions to our recent visioning and strategic planning sessions for the Idabel community and the City of Idabel.

The turnout was fantastic, and the level of engagement exceeded our expectations. It is heartening to see so many residents enthusiastic about shaping the future of our beloved city.

During the meeting, we gathered valuable insights and feedback on various key areas including economic development, infrastructure, community clean up, downtown improvements, hospital improvements and housing. Participants shared their vision for a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable Idabel, emphasizing the importance of preserving our natural beauty while fostering economic growth.

Several common themes emerged from the discussions:
1. Economic Development: Residents expressed a strong desire to attract new businesses and industries to create job opportunities and boost the local economy. They also highlighted the importance of supporting existing businesses and encouraging entrepreneurship.
2. Infrastructure: Improving our city’s infrastructure, such as roads, was a top priority. Participants called for better maintenance and investment in infrastructure projects to ensure safety and connectivity.
3. Community Clean up: There was a strong call for organizing community clean-up events to keep our city clean and beautiful, fostering community pride and environmental responsibility.
4. Downtown Improvements: Enhancing the downtown area to make it more vibrant and inviting was another key focus. Suggestions included revitalizing empty buildings, improving public spaces, as well as creating a downtown business committee.
5. Hospital Improvements: Improving healthcare facilities and services was highlighted as essential for ensuring the well-being of our residents. Investments in hospital infrastructure and attracting healthcare professionals were recommended.
6. Housing: Addressing housing needs was a major concern. Participants suggested initiatives to increase affordable housing options, tiny homes, improve housing quality, and support homeownership.

As we move forward, it is crucial that we continue to engage with our community and prioritize these key areas. By working together, we can turn our shared vision into reality and create a brighter future for the City of Idabel.

We look forward to collaborating with each of you in implementing these ideas and making positive changes in our city.
