Fun Fact

Did you know that Idabel proudly boasts not one, but two exceptional educational institutions that have empowered countless students and strengthened the local community? Kiamichi Technology Center (KTC) and Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s McCurtain County Campus are perfect examples of how education fuels progress and opportunity.
Kiamichi Technology Center, a cornerstone of southeastern Oklahoma since its founding in 1968, specializes in preparing students with practical, in-demand skills for the workforce. From welding technology to health careers education, the Idabel campus offers a wide array of hands-on programs designed to meet industry needs. Serving multiple schools in the region, KTC provides an impressive 3,200 hours of business and industry training annually, making it an invaluable hub for workforce development and technical education.
Just a stone’s throw away is Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s McCurtain County Campus, a vital addition to the community since its establishment in 2005. Offering a diverse selection of undergraduate and graduate programs—ranging from business administration to nursing—this campus gives students the opportunity to pursue higher education without leaving the comfort of their hometown. Its strategic partnership with Eastern Oklahoma State College has created a seamless pathway for students to transition from associate degrees to bachelor’s programs, further enhancing local access to education.
At the Idabel Industrial Development Authority (IIDA), we take pride in our role as a driving force behind the growth and success of Idabel’s educational institutions. By fostering strategic partnerships and championing the development of critical educational infrastructure, we work to help bring both higher education and technical training opportunities to our community.
